Is there any way to control the direction (up, down) on the levitate spell?I can only go forward or backward and with all other games a levitate spell would have altitude control. It's really annoying - almost as annoying as having to cook all that food for Am Shagar! |

Apparently, "levitate" in Arx is primarily there as a puzzle-solver, and is not intended for general use. So, when you see something "way over there", and see no way to get there by walking/jumping, levitation may be the answer. |

You get used to the idea.
It saved the level designers headaches of having to block off areas which the player shouldn't have accessed until later in the game, though that's a crappy solution to the problem.
Either way you don't need to levitate up/down obviously |

Any Idea on how to reach my relative in the Dragons cave - I just want to say hellow and pick up the telekinesis rune. However, my wings are undeveloped and Levitate is totally useless - not enough altitude gain for the various cliff face hops _________________ Fair treatment for Dragons. Humans smell even worse than Chimps, so bad that even tigers don't like them. Now, We like tigers - fried, with apple sauce. That's why we're so rare, being at the Top of the Food Chain. |

Try casting the spell when jumping. Also I have an impression that levitate does elevates, but very gradually, and bumping against slope surfaces can lift you w/o breaking the spell. _________________ - Merz |

Levitate starts by raising you a bit. You can in fact later use slopes to make it raise you a bit. Just go to the highest place you can and cast levitate. I still bumped myself on a stalagtite to raise myself a bit more (since I couldn't cast the spell on it...) |

Try standing on a stalagtite then cast it.
Find the highest point of elevation first. _________________ ---Sunshine |
