According to the README file inside the package:

This is a MODified version of game.dat file that corrects German text showing up in the skills information screen and some other places and spelling errors. Only new entries or new game entries are in English.
Also, clarifies some information regarding use of skills and changed one of the two identical Runes Lightning to ShockBolt to distinguish the two from each other.
Constantino's Ring has been renamed from 'Wood Protection' to plain 'Constantino' so not to confuse player so much. There was not enough room during the translation to fit everything originally in the file.
Rename and install the unzipped G2text1.zip into file gothic.dat and replace it with the original (make a back up!) in folder path Gothic2\_work\Data\Scripts\_compiled.
Will NOT update old savegame German entrys already present, only new ones will be in English. If you want them ALL to be in English, must start a New game from stratch (or where first skill to learn).
