I finally got around to doing his little 'bloodbath', went to him and got my bounty set back to 0...
HOWEVER, all imperial legion guards still attack me on sight.
This is more than a little inconvenient. Is there any console command or such that can put a stop to this? |

Did the blood bath. I tried to taunt the guy first, but that didn't work. I finally just started the fight and of course ended up with a price on my head, about 5K. Since I'm in the thieves guild I high-tailed it to the SouthWall club and talked to a guy and paid half-price (I liked his comment, something about maybe finding another line of work). Right after that I went out and talked to a guard to make sure everything was fine, he just told me to "move along" so I did, to Larius and picked up the ring. The $12K ring was worth the $2500 bounty I paid. |

I killed them, my crime was reported, I turned myself invisible with the amulet I got of those thievish folks on the road (the girl who told she was a dancer and looked for a ring in a pond, and her invisible partner) and ran over to the Fort. The guards didn't see me. When I turned visible again I talked to LV, and he paid the bounty, and I never had any problems with legionnaires again. I wonder why it didn't work out for you? |

I wasn't invisable. After killing the group i hightailed it to fort monmoth at which point the guards just butchered me. Didn't even give me the oppertunity to turn myself in.

Then it looks as if turning invisible was a good method to circumvent the troubles of a sloppily programmed quest :/. |

I didn't try, but how about trying to steal from them ? If you fail, he'll attack right ? and you got bounty only for stealing. |
