Star Wars KotOR 2: Review @ GIN

From the Xbox straight back to the PC...Gaming Industry News has kicked up a review of KotOR II, with a prefect score of 5/5. Here's the intro:
As most gamers know, games based on the Star Wars genre or movies can be hit or miss. LucasArts has had its share of lukewarm and downright bad titles over the years with games like Galactic Battlegrounds going into the former category and Rebellion going into the latter. (note: I have one friend who swore that Rebellion was a great title, so I suppose every game has its supporters.)

But where most Star Wars fans agree is on the Knights of the Old Republic games. They are epic. They are intensely popular. And they are, in short, why most of us play computer games.

Kotor2

im sure most of us who have finished the game have come to realize that there is a huge hole in the game, a plot blackhole, sucking the game right down the toilet. up until the last 1/5th of the game i wouldve given a truely good review, but the game fell apart- due in part to a rush finish. i now give this game a 4... such a fall from my respectable 8. i get mad thinking about a good game gone bad.... lets hope Kotor3 makes up for it

Yeah, I've been constantly amused of late by the scores KOTOR2 has been getting. One can only assume that most of the reviewers don't play more than a quarter of the game. Personally I'd only rate KOTOR2 at around a 3 or 4 out of 10. If there wasn't the issue with the ending I might go so far as to give it 7 out of 10; unfortunately the shear amount of trivial combat you have to wade through gets boring fast (I can't remember a single challenging fight after the mining complex).
