Agh! The same thing happened to me the first time I played the game. I can't remember how I dealt with it. I had to ask the message boards then, too.

What is the deal with the Rift? I've fought my way through a lot of it, and I'm at the spot where there's this one door that requires a specific item to open. The sanctum key doesn't work, and the flamequencher wand doesn't work. There is also an alternate way to get behind the door ... a passageway filled with lava, not part of the original construction. But when I walk across the lava I just get cooked, and there's a big rock in the middle of the lava that I can't walk over. So, though it looks like I can walk through while taking some damage, actually I just walk in, take some damage, can't get through, and retreat with nothing to show for it but blisters.

What the heck do I do next?

Thanks in advance
Z

In that extra little passageway (to the left of the door in question) is the "tunnel" you're trying to get thru. Near the entrance of that tunnel are some wooden support beams holding up the roof.

That oughta prod your memory. If not, ask for more and I'll spoil ya completely.

Huh.

Weird. Didn't jog my memory at all. But I figured out the way through.

Thanks again, dteowner.
