I'm On the focus quest at the moment and I learned a valuable lesson thus far, as much as it seems you can do what you want when you want in this game it is not recomended. This game is non-linear to a degree but it seems as though you should play it on a linear level other wise things just don't seem to work. Now I have seen more than my share of stupid bugs in this game and I have always been either able to ignore them or find a work around but when its game stopping it really p*%#es me off. So anyways before the focus quest even began I had pretty much explored everywhere and even killed that damned troll with the damned shrink spell but I found a work around for that, I am fully stuck getting the focus from the monk ruins, I had already ransacked that place before the focus quest and that retard Gorn sits in front of the gate waiting for me to open it and its already opened, when I converse with him all I get is the END option. At any rate I need that focus , I assume gorn has something to do with me getting it since it is not on its pedestal. I do not want to resort to cheating to get it but if I must I must. Having to do something like that completely ruins the gaming experiance, I go from fantasy world to thinking about how the game was not fully tested for bugs and what kind of crap I'm going to have to suffer though around the next corner. So anyways can anyone tell me if:
A) Im going to have to cheat?
B) If I have to cheat whats the name of that focus for use with marvin?
C) Has anyone else had problems by going too far into the game?

and since I'm here and b%$tching about focus quests The red mage at the skeleton tomb (forget his name) who helped me get the focus and took the orc necklace for himself , yeah that guy. After the quest was done the dumn ass started walking home right through Orc territory, I followed him after a bit and seen a ball of fire on the ground , I thought nothing of it until a few hours later into the game He was no longer home and is never coming hom. Raped by orcs no doubt, that guy good for anything (probably) am I going to have to cheat and marvin his ass back into the game as well!

Unbelievable, people could learn a lot from Blizzard entertainment. It may take them a loooong time to release a game but you can guarantee that It won't have any "Kick to the nuts pull you out of a decent roleplaying experiance" bugs like I've been witnessing.

P.S. I really do love the game.

BURRRP! Now that your blood pressure is down following your interminably long rant - exactly what is your question?

Ruined monestary.
1. Reload and close the gate before Gorn gets there.
2. Enter marvin mode, possess Gorn by focusing on him and pressing 'o'. Then press F8 to reset his script.
3. You don't need to insert the focus stone, it's in a cave guarded by a Shadowbeast.
Other people have had problems when they enter quest areas before they should. In general you want to stay out of those areas until you get the quest to go there.
Don't worry about Milten, he's hiding out.
You'll understand why at the next chapter change.

This is a game where you don't control everything. As in the real world people go off and do things on their own. I agree about how if you follow the script the game works better.
But even if you don't follow the script completely the game still works. You end up getting to the same place but by a different route. Go with the flow.

If you go with the flow you always end up in the sea or in the swamp.

You don't need Gorn, go in without him and get the focus, that's what I did.

Milten's fine, you'll have him when you need him.

See, no game stop.

Thanks Val
Open your eyes Joey

And exactly how are you suposed to know which areas are off limits if you can pretty much go anywhere.
Like the troll for example, its not very far away. And the gate quest HA i didn't even use a transformation spell, I ran up the side of the hill and jumped down through the arched window on the right.
I guess In a game like this where theres an infinite amount of possiblities it would be hard to tie together all the loose ends, But come on who hasn't gone further than they were suposed to in search of greater game and fortune.

But good ol Milten is hiding out you say, ok , I though that fireball onna ground was the remains of him.

Any place with a winch is a quest area. Beware of winches.

Ok I'm still stuck restoring my game here, although maybe I don't need too at all I/m not sure.

I entered marvin mode, I pressed o to control Gorn, I hit F8 to suposedly reset his script. That didn't do anything he still stands there.

So then I tried controlling Gorn and myself alternately until I got him a good distance away , then I ran ahead and attempted to close the gate before I got there and It still will not close.
Is there a way to alter the door in marvin mode to close?

But maybe I'm wasting my time with all this unless I accually need Gorn to get into that door to retrieve the focus. If I don't then screw Gorn he can sit there for eternity for all I care.

Thanks in advance for any input.

ah but wait gig's post up there said I do not need Gorn, therefore there must be a key around for the door? Cuz lockpicking it does not work.
am I right?

You should already have the key from that cave you explored with Gorn before trying to enter.

Gig is right. Gorn just hangs around. Did you just try opening the door? Some doors require neither key nor picks to open. You just highlight the door and up arrow. I can't remember if that door requires a key or not, sorry.

Oh? Right. The key is in the cave below the bridge. Duh? Val to the rescue once again.

yeah but, seems I royally messed with the linearity by opening that gate, see as soon as I find Gorn on the hill he says lets explore or whatever than 1 second later he says "you opened the gate already great" and he walks to the gate from there and stands there like a lump. He didn't even go down to the cave. So thats how I got stuck and I'm alright now I went down there and grabbed the key myself, thx guys.

Nother quick question (possible spoiler Chapter 4 coverage)

Ok so I took all the focus stones to the watermage and then i headed back for the old camp, good Ol truant milton was there wasiting for me. anyways I smoked off all the guards at all the gates and bridge and I was looking at the main gate and how it looks like I could get under there with the meatbug transformation spell, I could probably cause some serious havoc in there anyone try that? the game would probably hate me for a stunt like that one huh.

Im like one of those guys that once he goes back in time and is told not to touch anything, I'd be messing with, pullin up, pullin out, bustin off, and dismantling anything I could get my hands on with absolutley no regard for the future.
But im slowly learning.
