So, let me just get this straight.. This guy Boethiah, has a serious problem with Trinimac.
I mean Trinimac has done something in the past that is so far over the line, that the line is a dot to Trinimac. He hasn't just run over Boerthiahs cat in a truck has he? Nooooo more likely that Boerthiahs Granny was stroking the little fella at the time.
What ever it is he did, Boethiah kills him for it. But he doesn't just kill him, no no no he eats his dead body and then waits for nature to take its course. Then having squatted over a rock, reading his copy of "The Perverse Act an intermediate guide" for about two days. Trinimac reappears in less than mint condition and the assembled followers smear him all over their faces!! (As you do.)
What kind of game is this!!!! Good grief, I'm scared of Joe Pesci because of the whole thing with the pen and the stabbing! I can't cope with the eating and the crapping and the smearing!
I shall never play this game again! Well, I might have one more go, just to remind myself how truly disgusted I really am. But that's it then.. No more goes after tonight. Ummmm well... No more goes tonight anyway.. BAH!

They just ripped off Greek mythology. Cronos ate some of his children and was tricked by his wife into thinking he ate them all. But the kids who remained killed him and he spat up the children he had eaten up and they were fine. It sounds like they tweaked the story a little bit and add the scattering part. |

You might want to avoid a host of faiths, then. I seem to recall that Roman Catholics believe literally that they eat their god, after the bread and wine is transformed into his flesh and blood (and yes, this is doctrine: Luther was revolted, and refused to accept it). The Jewish part of the bible details with relish all sorts of genecide committed against a host of small tribes that occupied the lands where Jehovah had said his people could settle--wanna see kids made slaves, and women turned into concubines? Good book for it. 
And no, I am *not* opposed to monotheistic religions of any kind. My point is, there's a lot within the religions that are familiar to us which, if looked at afresh, appears quite as bizarre and disgusting as the books of religions we're not familiar with. In this sense, the religious texts of Morrowind are quite realistic, for they present the ritualized actions of beings and times which are not meant to be accepted as a physical, modern day reality. |

There are lots of Biblical and other Mythological similarities and allusions in the game. It was fun to read an articulately written story about the catechism of the twelve spheres or something...

Hmmm thanks A Storm Atronach. My Father was Roman Catholic and I must admit I never really got my head around their literal interpretation of some aspects of the Bible. But you're quite right of course, it does have some pretty grizzly images scattered throughout it's pages.
Perhaps a discussion for another place and time though.

Thanks Baalcipher. It would be interesting if we could click our fingers and produce a list of literature which had effected the development process of Morrowind by influencing the developers consciously or unconsciously. I wonder what titles we would find there.
And a big thankyou to Lordr31z for adding to the image. I don't think I'll be eating at your house soon Lord.

Cronus (not "Cronos") ruler of the Titans did eat all the offsprings of Rhea, his sister/wife. These children were Hestia (goddess of the hearth), Demeter (goddess of the earth and fertility), Hera (goddess of marriage, childbirth and queen of heaven), Hades (god of the Underworld - note: this is NOT Hell, as some believe) and Poseidon (god of the sea, earthquakes and horses).
However, when Zeus was conceived, Rhea fed Cronus a foal (or a stone wrapped in cloth, depending on the version). Zeus was raised on the isle of Crete and eventually married an Oceanid by the name of Metis. She fed Cronus an emetic and he vomited the children, who joined Zeus and made war upon the father. After a ten year confilct, Cronus was finally flung into Tartarus, where the Hundred-Handed became his jailer.
For a fascinating look at religious eating rituals, see Joseph Campbell's THE HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES, Part 1, chapter 2, section 6 "The Ultimate Boon" This book is credited for giving George Lucas much inspiration for STAR WARS and it is now "required reading" in Hollywood.
--It seems evident from the Vivec mythology that some writers at Bethesda are *very* familiar with this book as well.

Just don't read the books.  Really, though why don't you make a Mod with a new Guild: The Inquisition, and make quests about rounding up all of the evil books in Vvardenfell.

I have said in the past that I doubt I'll touch the editor, being a little technically challenged.
But now I actually have it in front of me, the allure of creation is strong... Badger is wavering... YES..I must try it!!
