An old friend of mine used to do that in Ultima On-line. Once I even helped him, I told a guy that I knew her/him in real life and described her/him in detail paying special attention to special parts. By the time I was done the guy was almost willing to hand over his character's house. I even told the guy that the two of us hand 'been together' which was hilarious for us, since not only is he not a beautiful woman, he's a rather homely looking guy. But hey, over the internet you can be who ever you want to be.
By the way, in cause you were wondering I look like Brad Pitt.

We could try that on Diablo tomorrow.

i'm guilty of on-line flirting. it's a lot easier than it is in real life. over the internet it's more of an art than anything else. and can be more rewarding. or ...less rewarding.

one time i started flirting with this gal. about an hour into it, i started...how do i put this un-dirtily...going in for the kill.

......as it turns out she was married.

1 hour. down the drain.

I agree that it's definitly easier, but I'd say the rewards are always less as well. After what can come of it if they're two thousand miles away.

Do not ever, ever flirt with anyone online. There are sooooo many men out there pretending to be online girls.......alot. Just stick with girls you can touch. Internet relationships are pretend/wastes of time anyways. Even if *she* sends you a picture, that don't mean anything.....even if you know her in real life.. it don't matter SHE'S STILL A MAN!

She is real if you believe she is.

Geez, and they called me cynical!

A good friend of mine met her current husband over the internet. The first several months of their "relationship" was over the internet. They've been happily married for several years now.

Also, are you telling me that Jaz and Val and Gig are men?

Does that imply only men use internet? Jaz herself, assuming she's not some dirty old man pretending to be a married woman, said that she uses "male" nicks when gaming online. Meaning, it is more likely true that there are a lot more "males" out there who are actually pretending females, than there are "females" who are actually pretending males.

Good point MoonDragon.
I wouldn't be surprised to know that most women play men in online games just so they won't have to go through the "flirt" thing. But you can't think that all girls are men disguised as women, and vice versa. There are lots of real ones out there too I've met a few good friends of both sexes online. And I don't doubt they are all what they claim they are

Well, there have been theses written about gender-swapping, as the internet-specific phenomenon has been named.

I guess that the theses writters never heard of transvestites and cross-dressers?! I guess I should give them a tour around my old neighbourhood past 11PM. In fact, I'm sure I met more "swappers" in real life than I have on the internet. I think that today it's all just a nice popular urban myth.

The 'real life' cross dressers and transvestites were taken into account and related to, at least in the theses I read. But that's been a while ago... and both papers' main foci were on chat rooms.

Ever look at the advantages of being a female?

This is what I saw from a year of two of playing Everquest. If you played a female..guys gave you stuff! LOL No im not kidding. One second she has nothing..then the next she has more money then ive made over a month! Its not fair! Females get all the fun stuff!
