Power of Law: Review @ IGN |
|
IGN's Tom McNamara tries to blow away Cops 2170: The Power of Law with his very critical critique, in which he awards Cops an overall dismal scoring of 3.0 out of 10 (readers "upped" the overall score to 7.2 out of 10, btw)...
After all that come a pleasant surprise. The music is actually pretty darn good and deserving of a better game. Cops 2170 actually has some solid acid breakbeat going on, with a tinge of industrial. It's not quite enough to soothe the nerves this game hits from moment to moment, but it does manage to dull the sharp blade of pain I feel deep inside my head every time I have to restart the game, or refer to the multiple pages of key bindings to figure out how to use a healing capsule thingy to heal myself, or exit a vehicle, or trade an item. The interface needs work, folks. The mechanics need work. The fun factor really isn't there, and there isn't even a compelling story to make it worth wading through a game that feels like it should have come out as shareware several years ago.. I liked the music, though.

Too bad. I didn't want my suspicions confirmed like this, but the review sounds extremely plausible - doesn't look like MiST learned anything from PC. Oh well. |
