14 here, No real ingame indication of what it means. I'd like the game to tell me what my reputation is as a sole number does not mean much ;(
Oh, about my character:
I am a battle mage: all mage with all magic schools and staff, main consideration towards Destruction of course. Power is my word. I dominate, others die in case they oppose me. If I need I use my deadly staff to beat my opponents down. I PRETEND to be good but I steal everything I can...  I steal using my power and magic, but I pretend to be good amongst others. Nobody suspects a thing, so far. I am a rogue mage, what ever that is. I have the power, and I use it as I wish. I even steal from my own factions. (Roleplaying terms here!).

The reputation cap is 255....the only way i found this out was by going to the console and typing in player->setreputation 900000 and it gave me a rep of 255...hope that helps  |

The main quest progress and your reputation seem to correspond?? I might be wrong but I didnt start main quest until I was a Guardian in the Fighter's guild I think, and my reputation stayed at zero until I noticed a reputation of 4 after progressing through the main quest abit. |

255 max? well, 253 to go ... > hey, with a rep that high, I will be worshiped ...
but seriously, it would be kewl to know what rep does exactly ... I can only guess ... higher disposition with NPCs ... perhaps it can also be used to indicate your progress through the main quest; I'm basing this on FrGGr's experience.

My personality is at 110 right now, fortified by the Mask of Clavicus Vile.
People are easier to persuade and will like you before ever talking to them.
Eveywhere I go, NPC say stuff like:
"I am honoured that you decided to spend your time with me"
"I am flattered by your attention"
"I have a feeling you and I are going to get close very soon"
And stuff like that |
