Any disadvantage for paid training? |
|
Just want to boost my Alchemy skill, so I 1st get the depsition to 100 with the trainer, then boost the skill by 10.
After leveling up, I see 5X for intelligence and all others are 1X
Is paid training not as good as you to practice by yourself? i.i. you receive less mulitiplier when level up? |

I THINK the X bonuses are dependent upon your class and your skill point to help you catch important skills up that you need. IE: if your a Rogue
youve got 75security 40shortblade and 35stealth it would maybe give 1x for security 4x stealth and 3x shortblade.. This is only a guess because each time I level the x's change. x= boost. Again this is all a guess!
Also I think the only disadvantage is loosing money? :p

Depends, If you want to get a certain attribute up to a high number fast , then buying the skill in succession would be a good way of doing it. Arrghh now with this knowledge I may have to restart again for the 6th time! |

Buying skills works the same as anything else. Once you get 10 skill bumps in major or minor skills, you level, and the multipliers just work off of how many of the bumps were in skills associated with that stat...so 10 alchemy gives you a level, and since it is an intelligence skill, you got the max bonus for intelligence. |

From my observation so far, 5X is the maximum mutiplier you'll get, but not so sure the relationship between the mutiplier and skill advance.
i.e. I always get 2X for stength, but non of mt maj, min skills are based on strength.
Is it 4 skill advances (using INT) equal to 4X for INT? or 2X (4/2)?
I kow for sure is the minor skill advances will give u less multiplier. |

It appears that the attribute multipliers work as follows:
If you increase a level and X out of the 10 skill points have Strength as the governing attribute then
X Mult.
-----------
1-4 2x
5-7 3x
8-9 4x
10 5x
There are attribute multipliers for Specialization, Major, Minor & Misc, however they are all set to 1x in the game.
I am speculating based on some of the game variable settings. Hopefully someone could verify this.
If this is true then some of the possible combinations are:
3x, 2x = 5x
2x, 2x, 2x = 6x
3x, 3x, 1x = 7x
5x, 1x, 1x = 7x (getting trained in one skill like the above situation)
4x, 2x, 2x = 8x! (the best)
So if you are really an anal micromanager (I am, can't you tell )
Try to Break down your 10 points as follows:
8 skill points that are governed by (attr1)
1 skill point (attr2)
1 skill point (attr3) |

I got X5 in speed even though I'm a mage (who chose none of the skills related to speed) because I can a whole lot w/o increasing my Prim/Sec skills.
Hate this system. |

I expect you got that 5x because you had a total of 10 points in misc. skills that had Speed as it's governing attribute.
It appears that if you put 10 primary (major/minor) points under one attribute and then split another 20 misc points among two other attributes you can get 3 5x multiplers in one level.
(This is all deduction, please anybody correct me.)

It seems that skill increase in misc skills through paid training does not increase the attribute multiplier. So there is disadvantage with paid training afterall. |

Don't put to much effort into this multifplyer, because once you are lv 31 like me, then your major skills like agi, spd and str are at 100 anyways, and you can't raise them anymore, which means when I get better in light armor, block, short blade or something like that, it doesn't matter, because I will end up having to put those extra points into end, luck or something like that. So if you don't get the best utilization, don't worry, it will all end up the same in the end. |

I agree. That being said... a little planning is a good thing to help you survive and level efficiently until you get to that evening out point. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

I think you're all wrong. I think the computer does a karma scan on your brain through your monitor and then determines whether or not you like baseball. The modifiers are based on that. |

That's not a bad way to do it, actually. Makes as much sense and doesn't require a college degree in min/maxing. Ingenious! _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi
