can't get 4 speaker sound

Anyone having this problem? I'm running Windows XP with a Soundblaster Live. Whenever I start Gothic, I'm only getting sound from 2 speakers (front). No matter what I've tried it only does this. My suspicion is that the game is resetting my speaker setup to 2-speaker config when it starts. I tried ALT-TAB to get back to my desktop to alter my audio properties, which works on other games, but with Gothic, it gives me an error message and quits. Is there any solution to this? Is there a way to get back to the audio properties to switch back to 4 speaker mode while the game is running, and then back to the game? Any help would be appreciated.

Use the forum search. I think I remember a solution for this problem has beeen posted some time ago.
