ah hello, is gothic good.

Hello every one, this is my first post. to be honest i haven't played gothic, and i wanted to know exactly what sort of game it is? to see whether i will like it or not!!!
the games i've played in the last year are: DS quite good, got a bit boring at the end.
JKII, very good, i love my lightsaber
Morrowind, also very good, apart from those bloody birds.
also a number of others i haven't finished yet.

i know it is an RPG, but thats about it, Gothic 1 seems to have passed me by,

Play Gothic! Take time to learn the controls, you will after sometime. Then you know how G2 will be. Exept that G2 will be bigger, better, faster and stronger!

Gothic is a CRPG, almost adventure like game. took me about 80 hours to complete, it has a good story, and very realistic environment, not like morrowind where everyone looked pretty lifeless. The graphics however arent as good as morrowind, the story, the atmosphere really makes up for that

Now the game doesnt cost much, so well worth buying!

it's not stat heavy is it? morrowind has quite alot of numbers (about as much as i could take) but there are easy to understand, some older CRPG's had just too many numbers, it was like playing a game in excel.

Stat heavy? I think I know what you mean. In that case, this is NOT stat heavy. It's dex, str, mana and then you learn other stuff like one handed weapon level 1/2 and two handed weapon level 1/2. There is also 6 circles. That's about it, there is other worthless things to. But trust me, it's NOT complicated.

Each level you get 10 skill points and you can spend them ono some skills. But as DzD said it's all very easy.

If you liked Thief 2 (which happens to be my favorite game of all times) you'll probably like Gothic a lot.

Yes thief 2 is the best game ever, i was totally sucked in by the whole atmosphere, i never thought that standing in the shadows, listening to footsteps could be so fun, roll on thief3.

i'll try and find cheap copy of gothic then, before no.2 comes out.

which is when? Q1 2003 isn't very informative on jowoods part is it.

JoWooD didn´t mention a specific release date. You´ll have to wait and see.

If you find a cheap copy of Gothic 1 come back and ask for the controls. The manual sucks.

To tell the truth, im not a big fan of gothic either. but it was ok. Its very unfriendly to new players. Steep curve for learning. Just my two cents though. I dont want to anger anyone.

*Sigh* As usual someone has to come in and say that Gothic sucks, and then they don't even say why. *Sigh*
