Morrowind GotY Edition: Review @ NL Gaming |
NL Gaming has reviewed the "Game of the Year" edition of Bethesda's highly acclaimed first person fantasy RPG 'Morrowind'. Rating: 83%.
There's a tremendous number of quests in the game - enough to fill two-thirds of the 350+ page hintbook (not included, of course). They're given by the NPCs you'll meet all over the place, through Morrowind's keyword-based conversation system. As you complete them you'll progress up the ranks of your chosen organization, and if you play your cards right you can end up with all kinds of rewards. A good number of them are the familiar fetching of objects, but the designers have managed to spice most up to some degree, with interesting characters, or neat contexts, or multiple paths to success. Of all the things the game does well, probably the most impressive is the number of towns, settlements, NPCs and other points of interest the developers have managed to cram into it. Each town has its own individual style, and the world has a tremendous sense of coherence and identity. About every Morrowind player will spend a good long time just wandering around sightseeing.
