Printable maps

I've been trying to make printable maps from the screenshots of the town maps. I've been able to number the 'doors' and make legends, but when I print, it's one big black blur. I can't test this too much since it WILL use up my supply of inkjet ink.

I'm not much in the graphics area, so I'm not sure how to get rid of the really dark background when taking screenshots. Since I don't want to play around with the settings of Morrowind too much (I have it optimized to the best graphics/performance that my pc can handle), I was wondering if anyone can help me.

The graphics programs I have are Microsoft Photo Editor, PhotoShop 5.5, and Paintshop.

Any help would be appreciated...and the maps will be shared.
