Could I do this playing as mercenary?

Ciao!

I am re-starting Gothic II again, but not from scratch (end of chap. I/guildless, level 24) and this time I would like to play as mercenary.

Being a mercenary, guards and paladins are enemies, well ... sort of. Therefore I would like to fight them whenever I can.

Big question: If I start to kill guards & paladins, will I still be able to talk with Lord Hagen (providing I haven't killed him) and progress with the game or not?

Sorry if the question looks stupid...

Saruman

P.S. Of course I look forward to open the castle gates

Hmm... I see. what if I kill the gate guards and the head of the militia? No one also should ask me money then to pay penalties. Or the gate guards are invincibile just like G1?

Just curious now!

Actually, if you are a merc that dosn't make the paladins your enimies. You only prevent them from taking goods from Onar's. As a merc you do the job you are paid for. But you are not paid by Onar to attack paladins.

As was said, the paladins or/and mages are NOT your enemies, when you're a merc. You're just on different side of the current law, but that's that. Enemy is common for you and for paladins.

Other then that, there's plenty of guards and paladins and knights, who are invulnerable. Well, maybe not plenty, but enough, as they are either plot important chars, or just important
