I just wanted to throw in my opinion about this part--I didn't think the combat in Gothic was crappy. As a matter of fact, to me, Gothic had the best combat system of any game I've ever played. I've heard that the controls took some getting used too but you can't prove it by me... Gothic was the first RPG I ever played and therefore the first combat system I ever learned. A game with Gothic's combat system and Evil Islands armor and weapon system would be amazing in my opinion.
Gothic was also my favorite game. To me it was the most fun, by a large margin, of any of the RPG's I've played. _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. You’re absolutely right, Gig. I agree the controls are good.
You may think they suck at first but be patient and you will be rewarded. |

I can't find Gothic for under $30 and that's to much when the sequel is on the way in addition to the game having a few probs. As far as the above post about TNT compat issues I suspect that it was his drivers as pretty much anything NVidia makes is good stuff. I've seen GEForce3 Ti200's in the 100's, I'm thinking I need one badly and I'll do the mobo, processor and ram upgrade. I'm really interested to see how Morrowind takes off with the availibility of the editor it sounds like it could really get big. Read about Torment and I'm not sure that's my cup of tea, seems just a bit to weird for me to get into. Wonder how Neverwinter will work over a modem? Wish highspeed wasn't so expensive and availability so low. |

A 56K modem will work but barely. Click here for NWN system requirement. The hardware requirement is at par with Morrowind/Gothic.
Since you mention that you do not have a high-end system, BG2 is probably the best for you in the meantime. Check out thissite for more information. |
