Assassins and armor

Is it realistic for an assassin to wear armor? I am playing one. And i want to really roleplay my assassin. I have him wearing only light armor. But, i was thinking of not allowing him to wear armor at all. What do you think? Does a true assassin wear armor? Thanks.

If you don't want to wear any armor then choose Unarmored skill as major or minor, so that it's easier to level up. But whenever I play assasin/thief type charater I choose the light armor, mainly because of Glass armor.

If your concept of an assasin is one who depends upon silence, stealth and quick movements, then you SHOULD go with no armor. Any armor at all (in real life) is a major deficit and would not be used. In game terms, the AC provided by the unarmored is plenty - my fighter was an unarmored character and had NO problems.

That all depends.
My favorite character to role-play is the silent assassin\bounty hunter. The chitin outfit works great for this in game. While armor in real life would cause some restraints, leather armor during the medieval era is used - in my opinion - by most assassins at least on the chest. I justify this by the thought that a mark may get wise, or lucky, and detect you as you close in. But then again, many assassinations and murders were done by more dubious means; i.e. poison [mainly], crossbows etc. Not too many chances to get up close and personal with a high ranking citizen that was contracted to you.
Maybe I just like the bondage look of the light armor. It really fits my assassin’s personality well. Silent, strong, unseen... deadly. No one will ever know his true identity. The killer in white.

Breton
The Lady

Block
Light Armor
Short Blade
Sneak
Acrobatics

Athletics
Security
Mysticism
Restoration
Conjuration

Were I to do this over (which I will not), I would omit Security I think. I have found that the game places far mor emphasis on the level of the lockpick and the probe more than the character skill level - so much so that the skill is fairly useless. My fighter did not have the skill, for instance, and she had absolutely no trouble getting into all locked locations.

Race: Dunmer
Sign: Custom (Resist Disease, some resistance to normal weapons)

Major:
Sneak
Marksman
Short Blade
Destruction
Light Armor

Minor:
Security
Long Blade
Alchemy
Illusion
Alteration

Illusion and Alteration may seem unneccesary because of Security and Sneak, but I like paralysis and such, as well as waterwalking, levitate. they're simply a must for the undetectable killer.
