Boots of Blinding Speed

While in game, I ran into a merchant who asked me to escort her to a city (I don't remember which one). In exchange, she promised to give me her Boots of Blinding Speed. I did not agree to do it and went on about my business.

Later, I ran into her again and suggested that we agree to a deal. She refused, so I killed her. I looted the Boots of Blinding Speed. I also looted a pretty nice one-handed axe with magical properties (including a poison proc of 3-7 damage). Man, are the boots fast! And my walk speed is now what my run speed used to be. Traveling is much easier now.

Keep an eye out for this merchant who I met on the road headed North (a few towns north of the starting city -- sorry not good at remembering the names of the towns).

Is anybody familiar with these boots? They seem almost too good to be true. Are there any downsides that I should know about? I think they do have some adverse impact on your vision (hence the reference to "Blinding" in the name), but it doesn't appear to be much of an impact.

Anyway, good hunting to all!

I just killed that chick and looted her stuff. The Boots of Blinding Speed are SUPPOSED to blind you! Don't you sense the irony there? Like she's really be giving you magic boots of speed for a simple escort when she could use them to dash to the city. Read her dialogue closer, it was apparent she was trying to rid herself of the boots. God, I love this game...

Try turning up the brightness in the video menu using the slider. It may help. When I use the boots, my vision dims a little bit, but I can still see fine, especially with the brightness turned up a bit. Hope this helps. I am loving these boots.

I'm not sure why you think she was trying to get rid of them. Those boots freaking rock, and it's not like you can't take them off to regain your sight. Also, it's easy enough to navigate by just using the mini-map.

I can sort of see with the boots on, I assume it is because I am an orc and 25% magic resistant. They rule! Especially when you need to swim.

I need those Speed Boots badly. Spent the last 7 hrs traveling every road I could take from Balmora,Caldera, to Ald'ruhn,to Maar Gan and Caldera ti Gnaar Mok,to Gnisis. NEVER met ANYONE wanting an escort. Met a dozen others but nobody with the Blinding Boots of Speed.
Can someone who has done this give more Specifics?
Appreciate it.

Spoiler
She is on the road west of Caldera. Go west until you find the barbarian in his underwear. From there, turn north (It's near the road to the caldera mines) After heading north for a short distance, the road splits, take the northwestern route and she should be in the path shortly.

Well,I got the Boots but they do me no good whatsoever. I get a TOTAL black screen when they are equipped. Turning the Gamma and Brightness all way up does nothing. What a bitter disappointment!!!!!!

Thanks anyway for the info.

Shes got a bounty on her head

I asked someone in one of the bigger houses in the town in the swamp you take her to about her and he said that shes a con artist and has a bounty for selling shoddy goods. I dunno if you can just kill her and collect or go back and say something to her. Im still in that area so I might see if I can still find her.
