Spell preparation

How do you set up a pre-cast spell?

I can put a scroll spell in the 3 pre-cast slots by holding the use function and double clicking a scroll but can't figure out how to do it with a regular casted spell. Which function do you have to hold down while casting a spell?

The Shift key.

Just hold down the ctrl key and make the rune shapes in the normal way but make sure you have the shift key pressed when you've finished and release the ctrl key.

You don't need to keep the Shift key pressed during the whole process, just so long as it's down when you release the ctrl key.

I find it easier to just press both at the same time, but Kris' description is the "official" one
