Gothic 2: Mod Kit Coming Very Soon

Piranha Bytes has announced on the German 'Gothic II' website that the mod kit for the game will be made available in the very near future. Development of the kit has been completed and the final release only depends on nailing down the licencing agreement (where they say you may not make commercial products with the mod kit etc. - so the document is obviously only waiting for a thumbs up from their legal advisory). Not sure if the mod kit is German-only. Doesn't say in their newsbit. Maybe someone from the German 'Gothic II' community who knows a definite answer to that question could add that info in a comment .

I thought the mod kit for Gothic 2 is already out... I mean, how exactly is ToD being made?

Oh... maybe this one tiny little word in PB's newsbit did actually matter then? I'm talking about "vollständig" a.k.a as "complete" or "finalized" in English so my best bet is that current versions of the mod kit (*if* there is a mod kit at all) are incomplete and that the new one they announced today is the "real deal".

You could find some mod tools on the German "Die Nacht des Raben" - Addon that allowed you to edit the world, items and so on, but not the scripts. So really good mods weren't really possible.
The tools on the Addon - CD are completely held in English so there's hope that the news tools are, too.

I took the liberty to check it up with Garrik Loran, and his answer somewhat surprised me. It seems that his team was using the original Gothic tools for their mod so far. I guess this makes sense, since the two engines do not differ as much, but still, who would have guessed.
