Hello. I'm currently at lvl 6 and I'm having a hard time gaining xp. I'm fighting wolves, but their usually in packs; and my current tactic of running for water when they chase me isn't so great... Im open to all suggestions...

try catching a single wolf's attention and then lead him away from his buddies. packs of enemies are difficult to battle in the early stages of the game, so try to fight them one on one. also, you can try to kill them from a distance with the bow. climb up somewhere where they can't reach you and pick them off for xp. you'll waste a bunch of arrows, but you can always get more.

I would say:
Get some Diggers pants (from Fisk)
Get 20 Str
Go to the Blacksmith in OC and make yourself a crude sword
train 1 handed swords.

do all of this and you will be in good shape
master 1 handed weapon and some more str and you will be in great shape
