Newbie question: Please help... |
|
I've been cruising around Morrowind stealing everything I can get my greedy little hands on. I am a thief by the way. I've come to a cave and went inside to find a NPC that attacks me. I have a staff and a sword not sure which one but I can't beat them.
Can some please give me some fighting tips? Most of the time when I swing my blade it looks as if I have missed. How do you know if you hit the opponent? Is there any technics or combo moves?
Thanks |

You can turn on/off "Automaticaly choose best attack" in menu. It can help you.
You can see that you hit your oponent buy blood that you see (or other effect). |

There's no combos really. There's three moves - an overhand chop that you do if you're standing still, a side to side slash that you do if you're strafing side to side, and a stabbing thrust that you do if you are moving forward or back. Look at the description for the weapon you have by hovering the mouse over it - usually one of the attacks does more damage. For instance, a shortsword or a spear does more damage if you do the stab. A longsword on the other hand is better if you do the side to side slash. A katana is weak at stabbing but great at slashing.
If you are in the first town still, you probably are not good enough to fight people, most people will kick your ass. Especially if you take on two at once. You, and your character, have to get better at combat. You have to either:
-fight the crabs, rats, worms and bugs that are around (and eventually the goddamn bird-things ), which are mostly easier to kill than people and cause you less damage when they hit you.
-OR- keep stealing and selling stuff. That's what you're good at as a thief anyway. Get your money together and find a trainer who will teach you some weapon and armor skills for money. The thieve's guild or Fighter's guild would be a good place to look for someone like this.
Either of these ways will make you hit more and miss less. |
