Use Ice block. It's an amazing spell.

You'll also get very far with a longbow there. Bullit's crossbow works very nicely, too... no skill needed for that thing to work.

Or you could take Jaz's... oops, I mean Jackal's crossbow.

What would be an easy way to do that? Also can I kill him with my magic or is he vital for the game at the moment?

Cast ice block on him then whip out your sword. You could kill him, but people would get mad.

Who is it you want to kill?

If you mean to take somebody's crossbow, Bullit is easier prey - nobody near him who might object, and he's just level 10. Jackal, on the other hand, is level 50 and surrounded by a third of the camp's population.

=EDIT= None of the guys is vital for the game, but you might miss a couple of nice dialogues near the end if you kill them.

Killing generally is bah .

Back to Orcs and Mages. Last night I went through this situation. I just made level 10 and I debated the whole guard vs. mage thing.

I settled on mage even though I only have 10 spare points after making circle 1 in magic. So needles to say, I may wear the robes but I was fighting orcs the old fashion way.

I made a climb up the rock face and shot them with my bone bow. One ran right and the other left. One of them located the area where I made it up the mountain but he got stuck. So I shot him to death.

The second orc was nearby so I climbed back down and engaged him with my mace. I have 2 levels in 1H and at lv 10 we were evenly matched.

I engaged the next few orcs hand-to-hand as well, each time I was left with 10% health. So it was never an easy fight.

I have basic mage robes (40 armor right?) and back when I was made a Shadow I stole a 15 armor necklace. It was in a chest in the second floor room, probably one of bodyguards. (So 55 armor)

Well I defeted Jakal and Bullit thanks with the help of Rattlesnake's techinc of freeze and use sword but barely with my strenght and a + 5 strenght ring they were basicly inmortal I was luck that I had some Critical hits because with Ice bloke I can weaken them but not knock them out. But thats as far as I can go because I can't even equip none of them them exectped Bullit' sword and Jakal's axe (Jakal's axe using the ring). But I can't equip the Cross-Bows even with the + 10 Dex ring.

I can't use Skill points because I wasted them to get to the 4th Cycle. Now I was thinking that if Bullit and Jakal were almost inmortal with my strenght what would happen when I fight the Orcs.

BTW I just got the High Rod of Fire.

Go out to the forest and burn some baddies to level up some. Then invest in some str or dex.

Well which would be a better investment Str, Dex, or Mana (since I only got 16 mana with the +10 mana ring)

Exactly. Even a mage needs a little hack 'n' slash to get the job done now and then. Don't hesitate to learn 1h weapons, and don't hesistate to get a little stronger (or more dexterous.) Using only magic, you're not in good shape.

I'd probably invest in some dex, since you going with long distance attacks. That light crossbow only requires 25 dex to use it. Then put more in mana so you can cast spells more often.
You can find a +3 dex potion in Fisk's hut.
