NWN: Hordes of the Underdark Preview @ Gamespy

The first significant preview of Neverwinter's second expansion, Hordes of the Underdark has been posted at Gamespy. This expansion will likely draw interest from some of those who didn't buy Shadows of Undrentide with the chance to play Epic-rules campaigns up to level 30. Here's a couple of the other features:
Like Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark will feature six new prestige classes. At this time only the shifter class has been revealed. Hopefully the blend of good and evil classes will be a balanced as the offerings in Undrentide.

Sound is getting a nice boost. Six new voice sets will be included, allowing for better role-playing and character diversity. The prolific Jeremy Soule is composing 17 new tracks for the expansion. Soule is my favorite game music composer (on the PC side) and I'm fully jazzed to hear more of his work.
You can find the article here.

I think I'll skip SOU and wait for this one. I like the idea of level 30 and taking on the Drow. Wonder if you can play one? This has the hallmarks of a real winner!!

Sounds much better, doesn't it? Core rules changes, new music etc - a bit more than the average fan-module usually provides.

The only thing is that BioWare previously stated that where SOU would be focusing mainly on the singleplayer part (with a few engine/multiplayer features), HOU will be focusing mainly on engine enhancements and multiplayer features (i.e. the singleplayer experience will probably be even worse than the original NWN campaign).

Ah well, one can hope that the popularity of NWN has made them change their minds.

I couldn't care less about the SP campaign it provides; it's the mods that will be developed using the new tools, classes etc, that have me interested. High level characters can be a lot of fun. Can't wait to play some high level MP games as well.

NWN and its first expansion were a big let down for me and this next expansion won't change that.I've been playing Arcanum again, waiting for Lionheart and Gothic 2's expansion, and that is a rpg.The only thing Arcanum dosen't have is good graphics and thats the only thing NWN does have.Once you've played Arcanum,Planescape Torment,Fallout,Morrowind and the Gothic's,NWN is a pale excuse for an rpg.

I have played all of those games, and NWN will never win any prizes for SP originality, but as a MP online source of mods, it's been a great investment!! Different horses for different courses.

Hey, don't forget Arx Fatalis. It's the closest thing to being just like the Gothic experience there is...

I personally can't stay interested in NWN. Without having a strict penalty system for dieing in single player mode, the whole game seems pointless. I have tried many mods people have created, and aside from only 1 good mod with good death rules (birthright of north), all of the other mods were worthless.

Is there a way to override all the mod rules and force strict death penalties throughout them, like losing half your gold, losing experience based on your level, respawning without your hireling, etc? The game just has no meaning if dieing has no impact.
