Setting Player level using console..? Help please.!

I have tried again and again the player->SetLevel command many times, but it refuses to change the level of my character. I have used every permutation that I can think of to no avail. Can somebody post up the console commands list that is acctualy accurate. One of the early cheat posts has a lot of wrong commands in it eg: TMG = GodMode..WRONG, it
turned out to be TGM. Am I missing something when I type the following to set the level of my active char: player->SetLevel 20 If anybody has been able to set the level succesfuly, please post the CORRECT EXACT commands. TIA...!! BTW,

I think that is right, "player->setlevel 20" but it takes a while to change. I changed mine and noticed nothing different, but after a while of playing I looked again and it had changed.

Go figure.

setlevel xx

Save, exit, re-enter, load and voila'!

Maybe you don't have to exit... try...
