Gothic 2: English Demo @ Gamer's Hell & Worthplaying |
|
Piranha Bytes' 'Gothic II' is going to be out in several new territories in the near future and so JoWood has released an English demo (~380MB) that you can grab from <a href="http://www.gamershell.com/news/20895.html" target="_blanK">Gamer's Hell</a> or <a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=24087" target="_blanK">Worthplaying</a>. |

You can buy the whole game on Amazon for $10, which is cheaper then most shareware. Why release a demo 2 years late. |

Judging from how long it took to release the English demo in comparison to the German demo, I'd say we've got a few more years of waiting to do. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

maybe to see if it popular enough with gamers of today to release the expansion. releasing a demo is a cheap way to test the market. |

As was already stated in the newsbit (got that bit from Gamer's Hell), the release of the demo is only intended for those territories where Gothic II is just being released for the 1st time these days (I'm not sure where exactly but I seem to remember that Spain was supposed to get a Spanish Gothic II with English subtitles... I think there's a thread at our forums with a list of countries where Gothic II has not come out yet).
Anyway, this is what the folks from JoWood have posted on their website:
quote:
Celebrating the release of the classic RPG hit "GothicII" in several new territories, we are proud to present the English demo. It`s the best opportunity to get a real good picture of GothicII, and GothicII is your best way to prepare yourself for the great RPG feeling coming with GothicIII this winter!

The demo wont run on my machine, the graphics are completely hosed. Guess a new version of Directx and 2 generations of video cards were more than this game could handle. I don't mind playing older games, most games arnt worth the $50 price tag anyway. At least this demo saved me even that minor expense. |

that's really unfortunate. Strangely enough, the full game works fine on my spiffy computer with an ATI Radeon 9800Pro. Maybe the demo is messed up?
anyway, I REALLY recommend the game to all action-RPG enthusiasts |

Define "few weeks", perferably in JoWooD's terminology. |

Hey
This game looks terrible. I grabbed it because someone told me that Dungeon Lords is based on this game (the engine.) Well Lords looks way better. These games don't eve come close to Morrowind. I'd love to play a good first person rpg though. That dam cheats don't even work in the demo. Big time fromage... |
