Anyway, I wouldn't want to waste my time with other stuff too much.
But I still have my doubts about this game...
What about the limits of many different things? ( Classes, houses......)

Ammon is extremely right, of course, but some of what you said, Scoundrel, is not quite correct AFAIK .
The Imperials are not always after you. Well, they are. But they won't be able to tell you're a Jedi if you don't reveal yourself .
There are two modes that determine whether you can be attacked or not. They're called "overt" (= you can be attacked by other players at any time) and "covert" (= you will be left alone).
The current plan AFAIK is that you can decide to play as a covert Jedi but that you will *automatically* turn "overt" as soon as you're spotted using your force powers. In other words: You can probably be a Jedi forever if you just ignore being a Jedi and continue to be a peaceful farmer .
It also seems quite likely that Jedi will be a main target of bounty hunters. I guess that anyone who manages to unlock his force sensitive slot is well advised to shut up about it.
Also, I don't think you will loose your Jedi status that easily. Your main character can never really become a Jedi. The Jedi character is "spawned" in a separate (force sensitive) character slot.
To loose that slot, you'll probably have to get killed (once or a few times). If you've managed to become a Jedi master, you'll turn into a "blue glowie" once you die. The "blue glowie" will, however, not occupy your Jedi slot. It's supposed to be a special reward for players who managed to become Jedi master. You will still be able to unlock another Jedi slot afterwards.

The above is the current (or only slightly outdated, I hope ) plan of the dev team as far as I know. Since it's all subject to change, it's pure speculation though. Just like Ammon said .

Moriendor is right, except for a few things that have changed , which are: 1) the force-sensitive slot is permanently yours once you unlock it, so you can always start a jedi over since you will never lose that second character slot; 2) the other thing is that any character made in that second slot is subject to permanent death, which means that once the character dies (only in that jedi slot), he is deleted from the servers and you cannot play him again, but you still can make another character for that slot... It has been said by the devs that characters in that slot will be able to have about a 2 deaths allowance to compensate for lag-death... Also, your main character (the one without permadeath) is the character with which the jedi slot is unlocked, but nobody knows what you have to do (yet)... Between this post and Moriendor's you have almost all of the known info about jedi in SWG

almost forgot:

both jedi and dark jedi do have to worry about Darth Vader and his master, so every once in a while you will have to fight someone sent from them, despite your (c)overt status... just pray it isnt ole darth, lol

Thanks for the update, Ammon .

BTW, is it just me or has anyone else noticed how the devs changed their mind from "Only a select few will be able to ever become Jedi" to "Every account is going to have a FS slot by default - You just need the key"??
I actually believe that a main reason for that (aside from not locking casual players out) could be legal concerns. It could be against the law in some countries if players would be treated unequally.
At least, I could very well imagine that a German court would rule against SOE if someone sued them for locking them out.
I bet that *almost every* player (as long as he/she sticks around for a while and to the code of conduct ) will eventually unlock that FS slot. I also have no doubt that SOE is going to find a way to keep the Jedi population at an even level, despite the possible goal to let everyone have their Jedi experience. Heh, that evil, invincible bounty hunter that comes for you might be Q,... or Holo,... or Shug. Who knows?

Moriendor and others spell it out pretty nicely. IIRC, there was a dev interview recently (holo, I think) where he said something along the lines of...

The Jedi slot (well..FS slot anyway) will be unlocked when the main character on that server performs some actions, or set of actions. While the secret to that code is closely guarded now, as soon as some stumble across it, you can bet it will be plastered all over the 'net, which could temporarily lead to an abundance of force sensitive characters.

This leads me to believe a couple things.

1) The FS slot can be unlocked, as was said earlier, by anyone willing to put the time into it.

2) The devs will have some safeguard intact to keep the number of FS chars down at any given time (Boba Fett, anyone??)

3) They want everyone to have a CHANCE to become a Jedi; remember, not every FS character will put in the time to become a Jedi!

That's the way I see it as of now...I'm hoping more info comes after E3, next week!

Iplay: Currently the terrain and artwork are almost flawless, if you have a good graphics card (I'm currently using a ati 9800 I just picked up, but the nvidia 4600 worked almost as well) the graphics are nothing short of amazing. There's nothing to worry about in that department

But with that said.. it would be unfair for me (to the dev's who are busting ass right now) to specifically comment on the bad bugs. There are some whoppers in some of the critical systems, and they've been around since I started beta 3 (4 weeks now?) .. which is why my initial comments were so harsh. I have no doubt they will work them out though, but I don't think it will be quick. June would be awful awful optimistic... We'll see where they are at the end of May, but I think you could see a July release... maybe August..

Let's hope the NDA is lifted soon, and I'll go into specifics.

Cool Test...I look forward to hearing more about this game from testers like yourself. Glad to hear the environments are nice, I will use my GeForce 4 Ti4200 and keep them around medium settings. No need for me to upgrade my vid card right now, although i AM in the market for a CPU upgrade

Ammon777, are you using the same name over at the SWG forums? I just saw a post there with your nick in the general star wars forum about "What happened to Obi-Wan's lightsaber" thread...just curious!

Moriendor and Ammon:
Thanks for your response to me, but don't forget as you said it yourself:
Not every issue about Jedis are known to be true ( lets say clear) for sure, at least not yet...( What if there is a sudden change? )
Plus I'd perfer a single-player game like KOTOR, but SWG seems to have advantages over it...

"Ammon777, are you using the same name over at the SWG forums?"

Yup.

Well guys, i am seriously having second thoughts on SWG. Reason is, on nearly every rare occurance wherein a beta tester comes forward with a comment about SWG, they are saying "swg sucks..." Well its their loss. I have my own project to work on anyway. Its an old-school CRPG. Think like the old ultimas and SSI games on extremely powerful stimulants, thats my game. I'm just shattered by the bad news. So unless my faith is restored in SWG, they arent going to get any money from me... (i should really go work on my project now)...

Well, to be honest Ammon, I can understand your perspective. However, I think of things a bit differently. If all the beta testers that break the NDA say the game sucks, how many happy testers are there that do not break it? I mean, the analogy I think of is: A plane crashes and kills all on board. It's all over the news, and everyone is scared to fly (i.e. flying "sucks"). Now, in the same day, thousands (or more??) planes land safely all over the world. You don't hear the passengers on those flights saying how great flying is..

My point is, the negative things always get the news..

I'm still chomping at the bit to get SWG up and going here. If it's buggy like the testers say, I'm glad the devs are taking time to iron them out a bit. I'd rather wait an extra few months for a stable release.

Just my 2 cents..

scrub that, i was having a bad day... thanks for your perspective, it is much more reasonable than mine was. i was just not having a very good day. .. im kinda moody like that it just so happened that a few minutes before you posted i decided that i will give SWG a shot, because, well, how credible are people that break an NDA anyway? and, just because it has bugs, so what! this is a huge game, its actually a good sign that they are still working hard on it, so i reordered SWG collectors edition and the guide, ect... anyway i am having tons of fun with planetside beta, it rocks... at least i'll have planetside, morrowind, and battle4dune to play with until SWG comes out but i am hoping SWG comes out in june, and i hope they focus on squashing all those annoying little insects before then...

Bah...no worries man, i deal with a moody WIFE sometimes, your post was not near the moody level I get sometimes..

As for SWG, I really can't wait to actually LIVE (albeit through an avatar) in the Star Wars Universe. I mean, I remember being like 5 years old and watching the movies for the first time. Han Solo, the stud, Leia, the hottest chick ever to grace my eyes at the time, Chewbacca, the big bad ass fur man....and who could forget Darth Vader, the nastiest, most evil, COOLEST villain of ALL TIME!!! This game will give people a chance to walk where they walked, the same towns, same planets, same aliens....how freakin cool is THAT??

I don't expect a perfect launch...no game will ever attain that. What I'm asking for is a game that is playable..i.e. not too much lag, server stability, populated planets, and features that are intact. I want to take a blaster out and shoot a tree. What will happen? What about if I shoot water? Grass?? Dirt?? I mean...those are ALL things that I want to DO..

I think June is a bit hopeful for release. Hopefully, they will announce something after E3...but I'm looking for a July/August release now, especially since they're still changing skills around for a few of the professions.

At any rate, we will be in the Galaxy together soon, my friend. Patience, young Padawan...
