Is it a good game or not? Is it worth the money? _________________ And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell,

You'll find several threads in the General CRPG forum about Pirates. I haven't played it, so I can't really answer your question directly. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

1-I hope you don't mind me posting Here, Dte(Is it alright to call you Dte?), as I have some things to say...
2-About PotC: Not a bad game, but has some issues:
a-The missions are very similar: spy, get info, kill, destroy, spy, get info...
b-The controls are Very BAD. eg: you can't change your walk direction while you're on land with the keyboard....
c-Very strange world-map moving - arcade.
d-The graphic. Not a bad thing, I may even say that it's cool, but it has some flaws, like not being able to fall from an edge usually. or being "inside" another character when exiting\entering some places.
Overall, it's good if you're a fan of sailing games. Also, it's not as good as Sea Dogs... |

It's very different from Sea Dogs. And it is not Sea Dogs 2, we have to live with it. I will not talk too much about the game, just want to make few remarks about comparing two games.
First of all - balance. I think that in some (and many) aspects Pirates are much more balanced than Sea Dogs. Sea fights - it's not that easy to sink a ship that's 5 times more powerful than yours. It's possible, but not as easy as in Sea Dogs. Next, random quest genrator is there (at least in Russian version, it's build number is higher than that of English version even without 2 Russian-language patches), and I should say random quests are nice though not abudant. If you turn "Arcade mode" off, enemy AI is there, too, and some major flows in AI tactics were fixed. I think map is not that bad. I kinda like it afterall. Well, it's not a sea strategy and the present map regime works for action-RPG. Interface is monstrous, yes, but patches fix most of the problems (including inability to switch between types of ammo with hot-keys).
Just few things that came to my mind withregard to Pirates v. Sea Dogs case. _________________ - Druids do not fight with metal weapons! Sit here, and you over here. Put the elbows of your right arms on the table...

But definitely Sea Dogs are MUCH Better. It's the best sailing game I ever played. About balance, you're right, Stan( )... But isn't it good?
Also I hate when Sailing becomes Fantasy. About the quest generator, it exists in the english version also. I have both versions, and nothing is different. |
