This is a trick question yea?
I know the logical answer.
State your answer, and why you back it up

Chicken, first was chicken.
Exactly 1 year 2 months and 28 days old in moment of begining.
And why? That is what I will not tell you. I do not know why God made it like that. Maybe just special kind of humor .

The egg. Simply, the Chicken could have been called something else until this one generation deviated from its current strain, and laid this nice new egg which had a Chicken in it. Maybe?

He's right though. That's why I said dinosaur. Things don't spontaneously evolve.

"Hmm... I need to attract a mate. Feathers? Yeah, feathers are cool!" *grunt... groan... POOF* "Much better!"

Instead, as progressive generations evolve new genetic changes occur on a DNA level, which manifests itself in the next generation of offspring. Transformations are performed on an embryotic level.

So one day the small feathered bird with a small beak, low intellect, and funny legs laid an egg... and when that egg hatched it was a chicken. Hitting its genetic potential, the chicken has coasted under the evolutionary crushing grip of humanity pretty much ever since.

Thus the egg... as the egglayer was a protochicken lifeform.

So a dinosaur laid a chicken egg, then the ice age came...
25 million years later, the egg thawed and out popped a chick...hmmm...thats interesting
*NEXT*

Oh you're saying something else laid the egg but a chicken came out...
maybe a dog laid the egg that the chicken came out from...
*NEXT*

Ducks lay duck eggs, lizards lay lizard eggs, swans lay swan eggs...

guess what produces chicken eggs?

Hint: Its not a dog and its not a 25 million yr old dinosaur

The dinosaur evolved into something that would evolve into the chicken. I stand by my assessment of a protochicken laying the first egg that hatched a chicken.

However, it was not a 'chicken egg'. It was a protochicken egg. Chickensaurus Rex for all I care. Exact details I will leave to the experts.

The riddle can have no answer if reworded "Which came first, the chicken or the CHICKEN EGG".

But as worded... something besides a chicken laid the first egg that hatched a chicken.

Unless, of course, God created the first chicken egg. I won't rule out divine creation.

maybe *thats* what the big bang theory really was, the creation of the first chicken egg. (Hey Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus, maybe this is like that)
