Alright, got the game, eager to go after it was installed and found it quite cool, eventhough used to Morrowind to much now.
Combat is one major frustration though. I never played Gothic 1 so use the new controls for Gothic 2.. I got One handed weapon on 35% atm. (fighter).
Did sign up as apprentice for the bowmaker, then joined the militia. And think I went a bit to far ahead of myself as is supposed to go to the pass now (chapter 2), but feel like everything is a danger to me still and a easy bait. Like Did a shortcut through the forest from Akils farm towards the Lighthouse and picked up warrior orcs and a elite orc running after me like duh!, Even a warg is like a problem. How is supposed to deal with these?
Seems a bit ridicilous hard atm.
Skills managed to learn so far is. Pick pocketing, picking locks, sneak, skining.
Exploring the wilderness is sort of a no go as anything seems way to dangerouns. And the town seems to be lacking quests I can earn xp from. Did for fun swim over to the islands and robbed the thieves stash. That was fun though. Had to like reaload 1000 times before I managed to get out of that room again. Dunno how I was able to get in there on 1st atempt.
Any tips/suggestions what to do would be neat.... _________________ -----[Good as it get]-----
Carol: OK, we all have these terrible stories to get over, and you---
Melvin Udall: It's not true. Some have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but that you're that pissed that so many others had it good. |

Have you tried Transform Spells? Did you drink any Speed Potion, which allows you to run away from the orcs?

There's a secret switch on the lamp outside the room. This switch will turn off those nasty spikes. Check that out. Here is a screenshot showing my hero who is pulling the secret switch.

Just through Experience you will get the hang of things, always parry with orcs and when they move to strike hit them, they will move back and block them selves, wait then attack again just as they attack. Takes practice.
For animals like wargs and wolfs, lure them to somewhere where you can climb, then attack with bow from there, sell the furs in the city and use the money to get more arrows, but keep 60% of what u sold, eventually your money should increase, bloodflies are great for bow practice, they give 60xp each, but hey. Also Scavengers are good for bows, when they are down grab the meat from them handy for healing, when you cook the meat on a stove somewhere.
Seeing as you went the way off the bow first, try and gain levels a bit with the bow as main weapon, then find someone to up your strength, the smithy in the harbor area behind the fish seller will give you strength to 30, Harad the smithy in the lower area of town will train you to 60.
I would say get upto 40 of each skill before heading to the Valley of the Mines, and practice your weapons before going too, so your competent and confident that you can use your skills.
I was level 12 before heading to the Valley. I wish I coulda gained more, it was still tough on lvl 12. But thankful of those extra stats
Oh yeah Dont waste Learning Points on Mana increase with the water mage, waste of points early on. |
