I am looking for serious MMORPG players (30-40 hrs.wk) in the Toronto-area to participate in a SOCIOLOGICAL study for my final undergrad course. I want to stress the soc. aspect of the study. This is *not* a psychological study where you'll be doing Rorshack (sp?) tests and telling me about your dreams. I want to look at the HOW of online gaming, not the WHY. I also want to focus on the positives of gaming, rather than dwell on the negatives.
I will also be videotaping interviews and putting together a 30-minute documentary. To supplement the interviews, I will be asking participants to play their favorite character for a bit while I capture the images on video through a firewire. It should be very cool.
I will use the documentary as a vehicle to pitch a new series to the company I work for, which operates 3 digital cable channels. If it gets picked up, we can discuss a percentage of the profits for eveyone who was interviewed, but for now, I can only offer $40 to participants, as an honorarium.
If you think you might be interested, send me email (jhornborg@unipos.com) or phone 416-960-2257 and ask for Jude.
P.S. if you know anyone in Toronto who plays, please pass this on to them. Thanks! |
