Strange that most "old" RPGs name really old RPGs as their best.
Hmm, I have feeling that memory is strange thing sometime - idealize some things possibly :].

1 of the best rpg in my opinion is Secret of Mana
It's an old Super nintendo game.
I liked it so much because it was the first that left turn based fighting.
For that time it had great graphics

Danicek:
Sure we idealize some old games in nostalgic memories. But there are 3 things many older games are doing better than the new ones:

gameplay, difficulty and fun.

Nowadays many game developers concentrate too much on graphics and sounds. In my opinion a *good* game is still a good game, if you would strip of all eye-candy and sound effects.

OK this will proberbly get me banned.

Im not a "hardcore" RPGer (Can't stand stat freaks) and just don't "get" table top games (why do roleplay games try to "define" who you can be and rely on the "luck" of a dice throw to determine things?), so with that in mind (and it proberbly defines me more as an "advetnure" player) my list is (based on what I have played to date):

FF9
Gothic
FF7
Deus Ex
Fallout *ahem* tactics
Vampire:TM
Ulimta Online
Ulitma 7
Kohan
Omikron

I know, I am broadly defining RPG here, but thats my list........flame away.......

You shouldn't get flamed for stating your opinion, Emech. Not everybody here is a 'hardcore' RPGer, and how you define RPG is up to as long as you're consistent .

Nor here. As a matter of fact I'm becoming more and more obsessed with Unreal Tournament lately, I've started to win a few finally! I play UT on my Landlord's Unreal Tournament server, "we have big fun there"! I'm starting to look a little closer at FPS games, I've never liked multiplayer games much, but I like death match now.

i am a so called "hardcore" rpg-player and i like Ultima 7, Gothic, Deus Ex Fallout Tactics and Vampire: TM.

I never played an eastern rpg, so i cannot say much about Final Fantasy.

You can be sure Emtech: *noone* here will bashing you, because you have a different opinion
