Sound Card and Min reqs

Since the only thing in my system that do not meet min requirements is the sound card, I'm raping all my old pcs (we have

for a sound card.

I've found one...Sound Blaster PCI 128 model CT4700 that has a current (feb 2002) driver, but no info on whether it is DirectX 8.1 compatible.

Can anyone tell me HOW I can tell if a card (drivers for a card) are compatible with DirectX 8.1?

My system no longer works with Morrowind. The graphics are getting black spaces all over and every time I play (I've defraged 2 times now) it gets worse and worse. I now have only a small corner of the map visible...the rest is blacked out. Tech support won't do anything for me until I've met min requirements. ;-p
