I think you need to get the PDF file and use the walkthrough and maps and then we can refer to specific places and you will know what we are talking about. Just download it and print it if you can. As for the task at hand, go out to where you came in. You will see a bridge over to a goblin behind a cage. Talk to him and he will tell you cannot enter unless you have a signed gem dealers certificate. You can get one signed by the goblin you let out at begining of game. He is in the Tavern near the Human Outpost on level one. That is where the injured guard gave it to you to begin with.
