Marte's Bluff

I am ready for Marten's Bluff. The road out of Trynton heads back to Arnika. At the first sign it turns to a cemetary (dead end so to speak ) It is supposed to be east of Arnika. Is there another intersection with a sign, do I leave past the tower in Arnika or just make a turn at an intersection to head toward Marten's Bluff?

You took a wrong turn. You need to go to the Swamp area. So, head back to the Trynton area and walk over to the other side of the area. There will be another exit at the other side. This exit leads to the swamp. There will be two ways to Marten's Bluff in the swamp. The first is an exit that leads directly to Upper Marten's Bluff. The second is an exit that will lead you to the Mine Tunnels. If you go through the Mine Tunnels then you will gain access to Lower Marten's Bluff. I suggest to go through the Mine Tunnels to get to Marten's Bluff.

While I agree with Val's suggestion of entering via mine tunnels (which you will want to do at some point), I'll say it also depends on why you're going there which route you want to take. Without spoiling anything: if you're looking for someone, enter directly from the swamp; if you're looking for some thing, take the mine tunnels. [Yes, I know you meet Tantris going in via the tunnels, but you're not really looking for him.]

I just don't want our friend here to get confused like Max got.

Eventually, you pretty much want to have access to the entire MB zone, so 'twould seem to me that it doesn't matter which entrance our guest starts with. Either way, he/she will use both before the game is over.

A Little Slow- explore, explore, explore! If you get into an area your party is not ready to tackle, you'll know pretty quickly from the volumes of blood. I've always found the maze technique to work well even in outdoor zones. In case you're a complete rookie (no shame in that), the maze technique is that you put your right (or left) hand on a wall/mountain range/edge of map and follow it, always keeping that hand on the boundary. Eventually, you either find the exit, or you return to where you started. Unless the game dev has pulled out one of the standard maze-buster tricks.

Well, because it's a much more direct way to the merchant, and you can get to all MB areas right away if you start there, i recommend Mine Tunnels.
MB is one area that i haven't seen a GOOD walkthrough for.

Mainly because you can get through Z'ant's little room to the elevator with an item available right there, but you can't go through the other way unless you've been through a few Umpani quests.
My walkthrough (Cliff Notes):
Enter LMB from MT. Pillage storage rooms, esp Pulse Pick, use Pulse Pick on keypad of Z'ant's door, go through and zig-zag left, use Pulse Pick to unlock the door to the elevator area (it looks like a machine panel). Chat w/Z' if you want.
Go back to storage area, take the hall left out of Z's door, go on along till you can go right to the 'North Sector', go up stairs to MB. Kill ghosts, throw switch to Idol door. Go through and downstairs at the other end, straight past the teleporter rooms and up to open and go through the trapdoor. Go around to use the Catapult, work your way back to get the T'rang Arm & Red and Yellow Wires. Unbar the gate.
If you gotta go back to Arnika, go back down the trapdoor & fix the Teleporter. (And/)
(or kill Raven--you've been to Crock, haven't you--and then)
Go down the Elevator, through the T'rang-hand-door, touch the mural, left for the Book of Crushing (sneak just far enough in to reach the book, if you're stealthy & careful, the T'rang will let you get the book), back the other way PAST the riddle wall right buy spellbooks from Sadok.
Back to the riddle wall, fight ghosts in Marten's rooms.
I usually am on a trail that gets me the most spellbooks the fastest, so my next step is to teleport to the Umpanis, (where you go if you're on the T'rang quests, anyway) and i usually use the Humpawhammer, walk to Arnika, walk to the teleporter house and zap back into LMB right away to do the Idol bit.
If you do it this way, all the parts of MB/LMB will be linked up on one pass through, and you can get there from all 3 possible entries.

Well, since we don't want our friend to get lost, Val, , we'll give him a little more direction on how to get there. Swamp is divided by an east-west river that's crossed with a bridge. You come in from Trynton on the south side. If you want to take the direct route from the swamp to MB, stay on the south side and seek an exit towards the southeast part of it. If you're going via the mine tunnels, you'll need to cross the bridge and head northeast to find the exit that way.
