crpgnut I feel the same cynicism about most fan tribute games never being finished, but it's an extremely dedicated crew working on the MMT game. The odds are well above average that it will be finished, IMO.
As far as MMIX goes, longer development time may have helped, but my feeling is the game was doomed from the start by the choice of the lithtech game engine instead of building a 3d engine from the ground up or using something a little better suited for a CRPG. |

Sir Markus, I'm of the belief that graphics don't make a good game but they certainly can make an average game much better. I agree that MM9 failed in this big time. I really think that JVC and Garriot have lost touch with what makes a good crpg, whether they can make a good MMORPG doesn't interest me at all. I don't play those types of games. To me, Garriot and JVC have "died" as designers of meaningful software.
On the MMT front, I won't be convinced until I see more evidence, but I do hope that something happens eventually. It is my strong belief that a slow development cycle will doom the game. More and more gamers are buying consoles because they don't have to wait 5 years in between games. KOTOR comes out and a year and a half later you can play KOTOR II. MM9 was released in 2002 and the last decent MM game was several years before that.
The audience that is still interested in an MM-based game is ever-shrinking. _________________ 'nut |
