Aww, come on, man! Nobody wants to hear about gothic II expansions, GOTY packs, Special editions and all that crap when the frickin game is not even released yet.
I just read this morning that Star wars galaxies has just been put on hold for the console versions so that they can focus on getting the PC version out on time. I think These folks over at gothic II should learn by other professionals how to get the job done. I see them working on all kinds of other stuff showing that they really have little priority for the english version.
with so much more good stuff coming out later this year coupled with the fact that our gothic II folks making annoying decisions like this, my odds of actually buying and supporting this game are growing slim

@Mr Wonderstuff: The english version is on its way brought to you by Atari in June or July or August latest (just saw EBWorl has 8/14 as a new date)

@Guest: Well, Guest, we have many German readers and they have every right of getting this news. And, as you seem not to have learned it so far: The english version is ready since late december 2002 - the problems, I repeat myself for the 1000th time, were at JoWood'S financial situation.
You can be sure, that if JoWood had the money, the game would have been out worldwide in january. Now, it is all in Atari's hands...don't ask me, why they release the game later than at once, after they got the publishing rights...don't ask me, as they don't answer any mails at all

Thanks Garrett. I have been looking forward to this for ages. Shame about the delays as I believe it will affect sales.

The fact that the announcement was in bold threw me off. For a split second I thought for sure it was news about the English release. ....

I gave up...

I just canceled my order for Gothic II at Amazon.co.uk and started learning German. Realy, with the subtitels on, Germans isnt that difficult. Maybe I would survive waiting for august. But will it be august? And we've seen this with Gothic I as well. So well see it again with the Ad-on. And Gothic 3. No, im learning German - ill be even more happy i did when Arx II will also be first published in German,

Yours

I think this step is a bit too drastic.

If you're in the Netherlands (or Europe for that matter), then there is a very good chance that you'll have the game on June 13. It has been unofficially confirmed from an inside source and several retailers (like amazon.uk) have June 13 the release date. (check the Gothic 2 release dates thread in the Gothic 2 General forum.).

The people that should be concerened are those in North America like myself. We're the ones who keep hearing October and August rumors and have heard nothing even semi-official disputing either of those dates.

We have no idea if its coming sooner or later. Everywhere else in Europe and even Austrailia have pretty firm releae dates and we have nothing.

I wrote in the forum:
"6/13 Scandinavia / Atari Nordic; "planned release date"
7/18 Australia / Atari AU"

There is nothing unofficial about this. Everybody can look these dates up on Atari Nordic and Atari AU.

I'll believe it when I see it. At this point. this company has given us little to trust them for. I pray to God that this game isn't buggy like the last one. that will be the final nail in the coffin for many don't you think? I think my confidence in this company would be a little stronger if the PR was a little better. Man, I would be happy if they just updated their site semi-regularly. as it is, as far as I can tell from their website, they went under!

GII had some bugs, but not as many as the first installment, nor were they game-stopping. Since the English language version includes all the patches available for the German version, you needn't fear. As for the website, the PB webmaster is a) a team member (and the team is busy with the GII add-on and GIII right now) as well as b) a student who has to spend time at university as well. So... be patient.
As for Atari's perceived lack-of-promotion: they are busy with a lot of other games right now.

I hear you on that. makes good sense. I just wish...
But, aside from that, I cannot help but wonder...
How did you come across these "facts". Do you know them?
or is that info you have read on the web?
