Which class is the hardest? |
|
Just wondering which class is the hardest as I've
read that using a mage makes the game rather easy. |

I have heard that playing as a mercenary/Dragon Hunter is hardest. That's what I'm doing now. _________________

It is. You're far better off if you can work a little magic. _________________ Jaz |

...a little non-scroll magic. The merc is at a serious disadvantage if compared to the other two classes with the ability to use runes. _________________ Jaz |

Yes, but who's the best marksman again? |

*I* was the best marksman . Meaning, I had my crossbow skills maxed out both as a Merc and as a Paladin. But those runes vs. evil came in really handy - when I played as a Merc I sorely missed them. _________________ Jaz |

IMHO how hard the game is does not depend on the class. Either you use magic or weapon it all depends on how experienced your alter ego is. If you exploit every opportunity, do every possible quest and kill every possible creature - you can have character that will have no problems. I killed last enemy with three-five blows without using magic (what for?)playing as paladin and he striked me only once. Someone may say - what fun in this - but for me it was enough fun in max exploiting game itself. But it took me about month with one guild. On the other hand if you like fight challenges and don`t have time, focus on quests and kill only what is necesseary. |

There's trade offs to being a Mercenary.
Yes, it's definitly the toughest class to be. But your sword skills will come in handy when facing all the dragons.
Bows and Crossbows don't deal much damage to skeletons and undead things. As well as Orcs etc... ... ...
So investing skill into that is only effective in the beginning when your largest opponants were Wolves and Raiders.
When you're able to use your range weapons against anything larger, you're probably exploiting a bug anyways. Like the Castle ram where Orcs can't climb up.
By the time I was able to get onto the ship, I was killing Orcs with 2 blows. And it was still impossible to take on more than 3 without getting seriously injured, and needing to spend 30 seconds drinking a crapload of potions. |

At this point my character had around 230 strenght. With 2handed on 90 or 95% nothing in chapter 6 was great challenge. |
