can't progress

i got the ancient shield and a lich will attack me according the walkthrough.
but there isn't when i pass the great hall, so i continue to exit and go to rebel camp.

i talk with the leader but cannot initiate a conversation scene and i still have the shiled with me.

have you tried "using" the shield on the rebel leader?
