Is there a compass or anyway to tell direction in Gothic?

But maps are pretty good to guide you if you check them out onece in a while when going some where.

You do not need a compass after a couple hours. The universe is smaller than you think and you will find your way around the Colony pretty soon with your eyes closed.

The little arrow on the map shows which direction you are looking at, so that is kind of a compass.

Press Ctrl-Alt-F8 to make your chracter face north. You will also move north.
