Three questions.
What does charm do?
How do you increase your magic level past 4 if you are in sect's camp?
How do you get the heavy templars armor and the sect's camps robe for their baals and gurus?

If you join the Sect Camp, you cannot go any higher. No other mage will teach you.

You will be able to buy the heavy armor in chapter 4 from the Baal that is on the training mat with Cor Angar.

and you cant get the baal's cloaks because as they say it takes 'years, and years of studying the way of the sleeper before you can even come close to becoming a guru!'
so if you plan on stayin in the sect camp all your life

Charm makes a character your friend for a while. If they are mad at you, casting charm will instantly make them friendly. This spell has a number of creative uses.
