Game Crashing Bug at the Start

I just got Morrowind and it runs smoothly enough. The only problem is that the game crashes ALWAYS when I try to open the door out of the census building. Does this happen to you? I don't know how to get around it...I don't think it's my computer because the game did run smoothly.

it's more than likely your computer. I had the same problem, except it crashed when leaving the boat, but for the first (and only) time on my PC, I managed to get to the race selection part. Then it locked up, so I waited, then I could move the mouse for a couple secs, then it froze and crashed to the desktop. So I sold it to my friend. I can go play it on his computer now!

damn

so what could be the problem with the computer? The game runs smoothly, framerates are ok. It just keeps on crashing to the desktop when I exit the census office! This does not make sense! Our computers probably meet the minimum requirements that's why it runs, but why should this happen (everytime too)! damn! I want to play this game on my computer. I don't want to sell it at once.
