door @28 on level 8

I've been reading all about the problems people are having, once they get into the smelting room (room 15 on map of walkthrough). My problem is that now that I've found the dwarven body at location 27, I can't seem to get past the beast to get to door 28. I've tried this many times, with the same fatal conclusion. What am I missing? How do you get past the beast to get into the door at 28 and then into the smelting room. The beast is waiting right there.

What exactly is the problem? The beast should be there, but the door should be between you and the monster. Just rush to the door and open it. There should be enuf time to do it..

rm 28...etc

From my perspective, I thought the door was just to the left of the beast, (looking up the stairs), and the beast was blocking it. I'll try again tomorrow, and look more closely for the door. Thanks Merz, I really appreciate your help...will let you know how I make out.

You were right, Merz. I just barely made it to the door. I guess I was looking further up the stairs. Thanks for your help.

You are welcome.
Good luck with the beast further!

Good news, as it turns out the Beast is actually just a big Pound Puppy!

Just steal the flute from grue and play it in the hall, then throw down a cooked ribs for it to eat.

He loves to play catch and if you scrath his ears he shakes his leg.

HONESTLY...is that a joke ...clever if it is... like your profile ...but if it's real I just may be tempted to play Arx again just to see it...
