(ok ok i don't know the spelling of that word... it's a quote taken in the Mel Brooks' "Space Balls" movie... if someone could tell me how it is written it would be a good thing, thanks! In the italian version it means: effort)

Sorry to disapoint you all but France might just be the WC winner.

I just learned that Zidane will play against Danemark. Thanx god, Lebeuf is injured. Candela will replace him, and petit will be replaced by Makelele, a young fresh and good player (playing for the Real madrid). With some luck Cisse will play forward.

We just need to score 1 goal to unleash our power and get rid of our frustrations (no goal scored, injuries, poor referee). Then nothing will stop us and not the poor danish players. Why? because scandinavian teams dont like the heat. Look at Danemark and Sweden. After each "break" they were tired and exhausted. besides Danish are good but not great and they play fair, unlike latinoes countries (including Italy)

As I say, this will happen if we score 1 goal. Then it will be piece of cake to score a few more. Against Urugay with one less player we were able to tie so with all our players and zidane... I just cant wait...

Maybe you're right but don't forget that the team now has morale down and they have to score at all costs! That could make their concentration poor and they could make assults instead of good and thought attacks, making the defence standing alone and bad-positioned for the counterattacks of Danmark... we'll see...
btw: why don't you register? it's a good place with friendly ppl to talk with! (look at my avater image... i'm really really friendly!!! )

yes their moral is low but not down. They fought like togers against Uru and managed to tie. (it's hard to win with you're 10 and with 9 opponents defending at all cost and dont mention the referring...)

Anyway, the french team is under revolt and they wont go down so easily. With beat Danemark during the last WC and Euro (3-0 in the Euro 2000)

As I said, we'll have to score 1 goal but with Zidane (it's official he will play) we might just do, then it will be easy to score another one. We have the best offense players. They just need fair opponents (like Danemark).

Of course, I agree than it might leave us vulnerable to counters and danish are strong, they hit hard and they are fast, but I believe that Bartez will stop them.

Man I just cant wait!!!!
And BTW I dont think it's important to end up first or second because whatever happen they will face tough contenders (most likely sweden and England. Argentina's morale might be too hurt now)

And yes I'll register

Why? Argentina just need to win the rest of the matches, then they can win the WC. Every other team needs to do it anyway. What is the difference of one more win?

Actually they may use the setback from England as a morale boost for their quest. A lot of war was win by losing a battle, reform then march. It is not like recovering from the defeat of Waterloo.

and it's official that he will play even if he isn't at top... i don't know why but it remebers me Ronaldo in '98 ( )... we are talking about one person health and we can't play on health!!... even if he played in Juventus (and so i don't like him... ) i don't want that he makes some bad movement and... well... i hope he would play well... and i hope that Danmark wins

Ok. I"ve been following this thread for some time; I think its time I drop my two cents.

France - Senegal
Rule number one, never underestimate the opponent

Germany - Saudi Arabia
Please don't jump to conclusion that this team is the worst. If you see this game again notice that this was German evening, everything what they did just click. I'm not trying to diminish they victory, but we know all sometimes whatever you do just comes together, and that was it.

Brazil - Turkey
Rivaldo. Player without an honor.

Poland - South Korea
First let me tell you I'm originally from Poland, I was cheering for them in the seventies and eighties (yes I'm that old ). Now this is the worst team in this tournament, for the first half of the game they didn't even make any shot on goal. How the hell did they qualify to the WC, no clue?

What a great game!

The Argentina-England game is one of the only games that wasn’t shown live on any of the channels I get. So I tried staying away from the net and TV until someone showed it. Normally I don’t like watching football when it’s not live but I made an exception in this case. There was one problem though. I had been out drinking after the Denmark game and hadn’t gotten much sleep, so when the game finally was on; I slept through the whole thing. Nice.

Ohh. Btw. It will be interesting to see what impact Zidane has on Tuesday's game. Personally I’m shocked that the French can’t perform without him. Well, he is world class no doubt, but so are the French team in general. They are doing their best to put a player who hasn’t trained for weeks under a lot of pressure. He should be able to handle it but I hope he plays a poor game.

@Yog Sothoth: I forgot to mention that I actually lived in Milan in the late 70's early 80's.

I totally agree! I also dont really understand why France cannot perform so well without him. I think it's because of the tactic they keep using (or the coach force them to use). They play a kind of "star" formation, where Zidane is in the middle sending wonderfull passes to his teamplayers. He's the brain. The problem is that when he doesnt play, the coach use the same formation. But there is no one who can fully perfom the same duty! thus the problem.

Our coach is very old-fashioned. He doesnt want to change winning combination, or at least what were working 4 years ago. He still uses the same players, same tactics and now all our opponents know how to play against us.
He also keep using some not so good player (like Lebeuf who is so slow now. He's never been great but now it's worse. Frenchmen were so happy when he got injured against urugay

Italy 1 – CROATIA 2

Vieri (55), Olic (73), Rapaic (76)

A surprising result when considering Croatia’s poor showing against Mexico. I can’t comment much on whether the result was fair since I only saw the last 20 minutes. Italy had two goals disallowed from what I gather.

I woke up around 3:50AM PDT to watch the last 20 minute or so.

The last Croatian goal was .....errr amazing. How could Milan Rapaic volley it while sandwiched among 3 Italian defenders and not seeing the net?

As of the disallowing Italian goal(s), I only saw the one took place at 90 minute by Filippo Inzaghi, it was a close call.
