When you go to Onar's farm with the guy from the Harbor that escorts you there...on the way there is a bridge that you walk under...to the right of under the bridge there is a cave with a locked chest in it...I have beat Gothic 2, 2 times now and I still can't find the key that opens it >< where is it  please help

I don't know for sure, but I think that the lady from the Landowner's farm gives it to you after you escort her and her brother back to Harbor city. I woulda sworn it was a woman who gives you the key. I think she survived the group that attacked the caravan and gives you the key as a reward. |

I want to say it's a blank rune, which means it'd be a mage quest. You could search around in a walkthrough for it, or wait for someone who knows for sure. |

speaking of caves... there is one on the small island in the harbor but there is a trap blocking any entry to the loot. is there anyway to get by the trap without cheating?

just stand infront of the trap and jump....I would save...it might take a coulpe of tries to get in and out...and make sure you have some pics on you...I got in once but my game froze because my gaphix card I think...but anyways theres a few chests there but you can get in..not to sure what's in it....going to try as soon as I lvl up a little in my new game

One of the torches disables the trap.

On the road from the east gate, just before you find all the arrows and goodies near the broken parts along the right side of the road, there is a small cave with another locked chest that needs a key. Do you know where that one is?

it is a mage related thing.When you are in chapter 2 some fellow in the upper town asks you to dig some information for him about what is happening inside the oldwalley..After you have done your mission to commander garond and you return back to town.Then tell that chap what he wants to know and voila the key to that particular chest is your reward from this easy task.Inside of it is a a blank runestone.

Afair, that's not completely true...
The guy you speak of (the one who wants information about the mine valley) is Fernando, who will put a blank runestone directly into your inventory while you give your report after returning from the valley.
But Lutero, the merchant from the upper town who sells "special items", will ask you for claws of a really deadly snapper. If you fetch those special snapper-claws for him, he'll give you the key for the chest in the cave underneath the stone bridge.
Furthermore it is important to find one very special snapper creature to obtain the requested claws. To learn where it is, you'll have to talk a lot to the right NPCs, but that's another story I'll spoil only if I'm asked to do so.
