i think just to make the story line more interesting in gothic. the swamp camp should have been elves and the new camp should have been dwarves. it would perfectly fit the story line i mean the elves love trees and are really good with magjik(just like the swamp people) and dwarve would have fitted in perfectly in the new camp becuase of the cut throught barbaric nature of the new camp. doess everybody think i'm insaine and should just stick to the lord of the rings or is this actually a good idea

Just because it's in a fantasy setting does not mean there needs to be elves and dwarves.

Yes please add them. There is nothing like barbequing a nice lean elf with a good old fireball spell.

The basic idea for GOTHIC was to distinguish from the common fantasy scenarios and settings, that's why we don't want to have elves and dwarfes and hobbits ...of course we implemented some common monsters...

I personally don't like the idea of having all 3 of the camps being different races. It would kind of destroy the prison faction atmosphere and make it seem like standard fantasy. Also,if camp allegiance is based on race, your character is limited to the human camp.

Also its more realistic. Even in fantasy stories, usually nations are either Human,Dwarvish,Elvish or Halfling, and not a mixture. Myrtana is obviously a human nation,so wouldn't its prisoners also be humans?

yeagh but that would make it interesting, it would be twice as hard to join the other two camps because you are a human but make it possible.

Hmm...while the thought of actually playing an elf is intriguing, I have to agree that the game seems a lot more realistic without ALL the fantasy race segregation that usually comes with an rpg.
