ok I need help with the mage guild quest about finding the guy and getting him to join the Mage Guild and if he doesn't then kill him. he's supposed to be near a lake...and I'm at the lake you get the flowers for the cat mage from. so please help head me in the right direction or tell me if you need more info. thanks guys! |

You didn't read the instructions you were given very carefully and are nowhere near the right place.
Use Almsavi Intercession or walk back to the Balmora/Moonmoth area. Pull up your journal. Press "topics". Press "P". Click on "Punabi". Read the instructions.
Notes:
- There are some decent monsters in the Ashlands region, which you will briefly pass through a corner of, and lots of Cliff Racers, some diseased and possibly blighted. If these are giving you trouble, this quest may be one you should leave for later. (As somebody in the game warns you, Mage Guild quests don't have a nice ramp up in danger level. This one is not for the weak.)
- Don't make a side trip to the dunmer stronghold. You are probably KOS there - at least my Kajiit character was.
- (slight quest spoiler) Unless you are a good speaker, you're going to have to kill both of these mages and they aren't trivial. Even with my great speaker character one was still adamant and had to be killed. |
