RPGDot/GothicDot Feature: Gothic 2 Enhanced Texture Pack By

It's not like the graphics of 'Gothic II' are really outdated yet (at least if you turn Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering on). However, why not make a great looking game look awesome if it can be done?

That's what 'Gothic II' community member Postal must have thought when he came up with the idea of an Enhanced Texture Pack for the game. This would definitely have to be an incredible amount of work since almost all textures would have to be exchanged for better quality ones. Postal not only accepted the challenge but actually managed to pull it off.

We're very happy to be able to share the goodness today as we are hosting the one and only Enhanced Texture Pack By Postal for 'Gothic II' on our network site GothicDot (thanks Gorath!).

Please follow the link for details and comparative screenshots and also make sure that you have 7-Zip or Winrar installed to be able to extract the downloadable archive (looks like WinAce and PKZIP might work, too, but there doesn't seem to be support for WinZip yet) .

That's a pretty impressive amount of fan work! Unfortunately I'm not completely sure I think the game looks better with the new textures (yes, they are probably in a higher resolution, but they doesn't seem to fit in as nicely with each other as the old ones) but you gotta admire the fact that he pulled it off

Yes, itīs an impressive effort. Postal said the improvement is bigger in the valley of mines.

Can I somehow resume download, though I save uncomplite file that I previous downloaded (about 50mb)?

Hey fellas,
I've uploaded it to YouSendIt - here's the link

Consider that as a sort of mirror

Whom did you ask for permission to put up a mirror ?

People with problems can download the file from Postalīs homepage. This is so easy to find out that I thought itīs obvious. Please try it on RPGDot first because Postal has to pay for traffic out of his own pockets.

I tried our local download 2 times. It was always fast and flawless, although it apparently doesnīt support resuming. Itīs strange many people canīt get the file.

Gee, i never thought about asking permission - sorry about that

Just thought that the download from the "mirror" would be faster and help the others out.

Gorath & Postal, i'm really sorry. If you want to, u can remove the file from YouSendIt - it's an option at the link i provided.

Thanks Dr. A!

Thanks Dr. A! I appreciate that. Transfer seems to be working ok.
And with all due respect to Gorath -- if you read above, the reason I was looking for a mirror is because I was having substantial and repeated problems getting it off the gothicdot server. I tried about 8 times. And yeah, I went to Postal's home page and the download link there didn't work either...it sent me some 900k mystery file that was useless. Sent Postal an e-mail, with no response.

I wouldn't have asked for help if it was that easy...so please chill out.
