Doors, items, quests, smoking, and tobacco... ? |
|
I'm playing through the game for my third time now, and I've got a few random questions.
1) Are any of the following items used for quests? Do any of them serve any purpose other than for selling? List:
- Stingers
- A herring
- Minecrawler mandibles
- turnips (...aside from the quest where you pick them at the farm in the very early part of the game.)
- Book: The Spirit of the Wine
- Note of Debenture (...aside from its indication that Lehmar has one of the Blood Chalices in his chest.)
- Heart of golems
- Caskets
- Herb Tobacco
2) How do you smoke tobacco?
3) There are two steal barred doors/gates that I don't know how to open. List:
- One of them is in the cave just to the left of the path as you're on your way to where Grimbald is located. There are three ways to reach Grimbald's location. The one I am referring to is the path that goes at an incline just beyond the pond on your right side where a stream/river pours into. Just before the incline, there is a small wooded area to the left of the path with a cave bordered by wooden beams. Deep inside this cave is a steal barred door. You can see inside the door from between the square shaped pattern in the bars. There appears to be an extention in the cave beyond some rubble past the door. Is it possible to get past this barred area?
- In Xardas's tower there is a similar, but larger barred door/wall/gate. I'm sure this is a common question, but how do you get inside? I think I remember seeing a chest and an alchemists bench inside.
4) I would benefit from some thorough instructions on where to reach the location I'm supposed to use the moleratfat at. I read in another thread it is used for a lever? Where is this? Is it a lever or a wrench? When you use it does it go away or does it remain in your inventory?
5) Will there ever be a MAC version of Gothic and/or Gothic 2?

Theres a button on the fireplace in Xardas tower RHS. The cave with the winch is near the bottom of the stairs going down from near where you fix the Eye of Innos.. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

I think the moleratfat is supposed to be used on a winch. (The cave with the winch is near the bottom of the stairs going down from near where you fix the Eye of Innos..) _________________ Moderator and Council Magician of the RPGDot Shadows

That guy buys honey tobacco from you. I'm talking about Herb tobacco.... it is apple tobacco mixed with swampweed... Or is that another blend he likes? I'll try it out...
Is the location where you use the molerat fat the same cave as where you find the book, The Spirit of the Wine?
- Stinger do nothing but drain your life and sell for gold?
- Why bother putting 1 herring in the game if it isn't good for anything?
- What exactly do minecrawler mandibles do?
- What about the steal barred door I mentioned in the cave? I thought I gave pretty good instructions on where that was...
Come on guys... I know you can give me some better responses then those... Go from 1-5 and respond to each question...

Minecrawler manibles have a secrection that causes your mana to regenerate. It is on the info card description and that is what it does if you use them. Unless, you mean some thing else, like the field raider mandibles.
You can make only three of the four tobacco blends mentioned. Only mushroom, Honey, and swampweed. In the game.dat the respones in dialog are there but it looka as if it was simplified. Read how the subtext goes.
The pipe smoker merchant will try your mushroom tobacco and does not like it. Funny, the text dalog is missing but if you press 'enter' it will get him to respond. A small buglet.
He likes the honey but that is it. He will only pay the richly sum of 10 gold for your efforts for all you can sell him.
He does not respond to swampweed blend. You can make it though.
You can not even make double apple tobacco blend even though the item was 'defined/ created' but no mechanism exist to make it in game.
It seems the quest was shortened.
Try using 'K' in Marvin to find out what is behind them doors. Some you must use a teleport scroll 'spoiler' to get into them. (like heavy Paladin Armor).
The 'red' herring I believe was put in there to 'throw you off' in your persuit of the fish guy and thief quest. Story device to mess with you. _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |

FYI,
Golem hearts are VERY important if you are mage. They are required for a few high level spells. Otherwise, just sell them. _________________ All shall hear the words of Karras...the words of Karras |

Thanks elkston!
Apparently, none of you know this, but you get experience for taking the Herb Tobacco to the thief gardener next to Lord Hagen's house. He'll give you +75 experience and he'll try smoking it. I just figured this one out yesterday...
To recapitulate:
Honey Tobacco - "fortune teller"
Mushroom Tobacco - Dar
Herb Tobacco - Gardener

Dar takes mushroom tabaco? What do you get for giving it to him? Or is this a part of a quest? |

It is not part of a quest. It is just something you can get experience for if you talk to him when you have the Mushroom Tobacco in your inventory. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

Thanks. I thought the only reason that they put him in the game is that Mud is dead |

I think I know the cave you're talking about. I used marvin to get to the other side and it is just rubble, I would imagine that it was taken out at the last minute. _________________
